I do my own design work. Placement of pictures, words, dates and pattern design.
Working from clear photos that you send for your wood burning. Don’t worry if all your people are not in one photo. I am an artist, I’ll be happy to change and move things around if needed. Then we can decide which photos work the best. For instance; in the past, I have used 9 photos for one wood burning! Let’s say… you have a child looking away and another is sad faced, a replacement photo will do the trick. Uncooperative faces is not a problem. I am able to take out people or move things around. If you want changes to a face, you need a replacement photo for that face. I am an artist not a magician!

Boards & Types of Wood
I buy clean & dried planks at a mill in Northern Minnesota. John is an expert millworker for 30 years. Through the years, John knows the needs of his patrons. His hand picked wood, is noted for the extreme beauty.
Dry stored, two sided bark wood. Planks range width 7inch to 14inch. Length up to 55in. Cut to size and perfect thickness
Aged drift wood on hand, shapes to sit or hang on walls.
Barn wood on hand - for burning personal art only.
Sizes are usually not a problem, we cut boards to size and sand for a smooth finish.
Some boards might center bent from burning. This does not intensify or change the outcome of the art work carved.
Art Work
Free hand, outline with pencil determines the size and placement.
Hand made burns that I create with iron. I always start each project at the top left, working my way down and over. Watching my placement and details, fixing and correcting from my pencil lines as I burn. The outcome is to create the closest resemblance as possible to the photo.
Cleaning Suggestions
Cloth is not always the best. It could leave fibers and possibly catch and pull bark. A cloth can’t get into small burns as well.
With every board I use a BRUSH. I hardly touch the wood with my hand to take off particles. You can finding inexpensive brushes at hardware stores. Using a brush can take away loose dust and helps sweep into the small lines and crevices.
Do not use cleaners or sprays unless you put a sealer over the entire board! This is a soft, rough wood and absorbs moister easily. Let your wood age on its own.
You can always use a clear protective sealer of your choice, make sure it says - does not yellow and UV protection on the spray can.
Traditional Design
Fallowing the rules is perfectly fine. Not everything needs to be splashy or a bigger than life project. Simple is good! Individual add-ons even better! Just remember - IT’S ALREADY A ONE OF A KIND MASTERPIECE!

My customer makes big decisions picking the photos, I want you to feel like this was a easy and fun experience. Last thing I want this to be is scary or unneeded pressure.
I like making decisions, 90% of the time after starting a job, decisions are made by me. I take every detail in consideration, lay-out, meticulous burns and letter design
I do not make a sketch on paper for you to see. I directly draw on the piece of wood I have prepared for you.

Would you like a Hand Made Hanger for the back of the board, for easy hanging?
“Boards are not meant to be the same weight on each side. If you want your board to hang straight, My recommendation is definitely a hang. I put a wire hanger on the back for only $3”
After every finished drawing, I’ll need a thumbs up to start burning your picture. This is the time to change if need be.
Every one to 2 hours, I’ll send progress up-dates as I wood burn. I show you a progress picture. Show off your updated photos for a extra special treat, with your wood burning gift.
Seeing the progress, shows you I’m creating by hand and not with a lazier machine or hot press iron.
